For the first time in Portugal one bituminous mixes gets a favourable technical seem, thought an Application Document, emitted by LNEC - National Laboratory of Civil Engineering, relatively to its use in layers of road pavements.

As in the introduction in Portugal of Bitumen of High Rubber percentage, the Recipav strategy was once again characterized as pioneering and innovative in the sector.

The document now approved defines rigorously all the characteristics and establishes the conditions of execution and use of Opened Bituminous Mixtures with Modified Bitumen with high Rubber percentage (MBA-BMB®), manufactured with BMB®, produced and manufactured by Recipav

On the basis of assays carried through for this legitimate laboratory are also registered the characteristics of this mixture performance having been still carried through visits the workmanships in service, some of them with about 6 years and that they covered the diverse situations, how much to the type of bitumen, percentage of the same, and nature of used aggregates, where it was possible to confirm its behaviour

Even knowing that it is easier to speak than demonstrate, Recipav advanced voluntarily for the attainment of this Document, in the certainty  that the same it can still more contribute for a deep clarification of all the ones that project and decide in this area. The Document can be used by the workmanship owners as Notebook Specifications (NS) for this type of bituminous mixture. This document stops beyond what it consists habitually in the NS, presents nominated for first in time in Portugal the main characteristics a bituminous mixture performance, the structural properties (fatigue strength and to the permanent deformations) and the functional properties, that is, relative to the attrition (resistance to the sideslip and depth of texture).

The Application Document is valid until November of 2009, being able of renewal process and the LNEC reserves the right, during this period,  to visit the workmanships where  it proceeds to the application of this bituminous mixture,  to get information from BMB® and MBA-BMB® quality constancy production
